Based in London, but with roots in Hungary’s Chi Recordings, Ambrus Deak a.k.a. AMB has been in music production, engineering, and label management for over six years. Co-founder and a fundamental cog in Chi Recordings, but also appears on React’s 21st Century Breaks or Distinctive’s Y4K. AMB was responsible for one of the most remarkable breaks tracks of 2002, Romeo, which obtained second place on Breakspoll, The International Breakbeat Awards, best single category in 2003.

Support come from Hybrid, Elite Force, Chris Carter, Terminalhead, Meat Katie, Tayo, General Midi, Hyper, James Zabiela, Laurent Garnier, and many others share a positive opinion. AMB is supported by today’s leading international provider of digital audio and MIDI solutions, M-Audio. When he’s not making dance music, he puts on his mastering suit or makes soundtracks for commercials, theatre and the film industry.

AMB’s training in music began in 1993 when he started to take weekly lessons in drumming from Hungary’s premier jazz drummer, Imre Koszegi. He soon realised that he was obsessed with writing music too, although his furst tunes were rather challenging to listen to due to the very early stage of evolution. He studied music theory for 2 years from jazz-pianist and university lecturer, Gyorgi Regaly.

In 1998 he stepped slightly towards the technical side of the music making progress: he completed a course in sound engineering at the Ockopus Multimedia Institute in Hungary.

He began to work with DJ Naga in 2000, which led to their debut album, Styledrop and the launch of Chi Recordings – the latter also supported by Kevin aka Fine Cut Bodies, Lui, Lilla, and Ricsi. During these years, he learnt how to polish his own and other producer’s/band’s sound, enabling himself to take up sound engineering and mastering at the label and also as a freelancer. Over the years, he’s had numerous releases and mastered countless tracks/singles/Eps/LPs, including UK labels such as Sinster, iBreaks, Midfinger, and some of Hungary’s most acknowledged bands like Anima Sound System, Varga Zsuzsa, Kowalsky meg a Vega, Korai Orom, Romano Drom.

In the beginning of 2005 he left behind the calm comfort of his existence in Budapest and moved to London. Since then, he’s been working full swing, so there is a heavy load of AMBness to come in the future.
